Know Before You Go: Checking the Rules Before Shooting on Public Land

Public lands provide many opportunities for outdoor recreation, including target shooting in areas where it is permitted. Before heading out, responsible firearm owners, especially those utilizing FFL transfers and firearm services, take the time to verify that shooting is legal at their chosen location. A few minutes of planning can help protect public safety, preserve natural resources, and prevent costly violations.

Safe recreational shooting begins with preparation and responsibility. Before shooting, always wear proper eye and hearing protection, inspect your equipment, and ensure you are in a safe, legal location. If you’re in the area, consider visiting a Santa Teresa gun shop for any necessary supplies or guidance.
